What happened in the first 3 chapters that we read as a group?

Crazy Miss Maisey was a librarian but now she owned a  pet shop but a boy called billy ask if he could buy one but she said ‘ no’ I only lend them.




Answer the following questions using FULL sentences. Remember to use the book to help you answer the questions.


Write three animals that were not suitable for Billy and his Mum. Why were they not right? Alligator bat dingo. The alligator was not good because he was loud when he splashed in the pool with billy. The bat was annoying because he hanged everywhere so billy hanged everywhere to. Dingo was annoying because he turned on the radio all the time and it was loud.



Why was Billy feeling sad? (pg. 24).
Because Billy wanted a lizard but a girl had them.


What was wrong with the octopus? (pg. 26).
He tossed balls next door. His octopus had tangled arms.


What does the author mean when he wrote “There was a porcupine, but everyone usually returned it the same day. It had a prickly personality!”? (pg. 29).it meant it was pricky.


Why was Billy’s mother lying on the couch with a ice-bag on her head and cucumbers on her eyes? (pg. 36).
Because she had a headache.



Do you think Billy was happy with his choice of the tadpole at the beginning? (pg. 40).

Yes because he knew that his mum said to get a quiet pet.


How did the story end?
The story ended when Billy got a tadpole,and when Billy got home he was scared that his mum will say to take it back.


What pet would you have chosen if you were Billy?
I would have chosen a hedgehog and a dog.

Answer the following questions using FULL sentences.

1. Why did Grandma say that Grandpa needed a new cardigan? (pg. 3)
Because the seams had come apart.  Three buttons came apart.


2.  Why did Grandma quickly take the cardigan away? (pg. 6).
So Grandad can buy another one.


3. What type of cardigan was Grandpa looking for? (pg. 8)
A grey one and a comfortable one.


4. There was a problem with the second store’s cardigan? What was it? (pg. 14)
It was too prickly and tight under his arms.


5. How many stores did Grandpa have to go to till he found the right cardigan?
He visited four stores to find the right cardigan.

6. why did Grandpa want a new cardigan? (pg. 18)
Because Grandma told Grandpa to get a new cardigan because it was old so Grandpa look for a cardigan.


7. What did Grandpa’s new cardigan look like? Was he happy with it? (pg. 24-28)
He did like his cardigan because it was his old cardigan. It was grey how he wanted it. It had three buttons. The seams were sewed.


8. How did the story end?

When he got home Grandma was surprised she knew that he had his old one.
